Bibliographic Service - Bibliographies on specific topics are provided to the Institute's researchers on request.

Current Awareness Services - New books are kept on display for a week and bibliographic details are notified to ICWA researchers.

Reference Service - Information is collected from the library and internet resources against specific requests from the Institute's researchers.

Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) - SDI is provided to ICWA researchers in their specific areas of research.

Photocopying at nominal charges.

Special Collection:

"Heritage of Diplomacy" is a bouquet of books written by ambassadors and senior diplomats. This special collection is available in the Indian Council of World Affairs library. Anecdotes, memoirs, short stories, autobiographical accounts and relations of India with other countries looked through the prism of our Ambassadors are some of the highlights of this collection.

Newspaper files of the Hindu (Madras) from 1933 to 1979, the Times of India (Bombay) from 1945 to1975 and the Times of India (New Delhi) from 1969 to 2004 are also preserved beside stray volumes of The Asian Age, The Economic Times, The Financial Times (London), The International Herald Tribune, The Nation (Lahore), The Pakistan Times and The Japan Times (Tokyo) News.

UNITED NATIONS & EUROPEAN UNION SECTION

The ICWA Library is a repository for the United Nations and European Union documents, periodicals and its other publications. The library has almost all the UN documents since 1945. Important among them are Security Council and General Assembly debates and their Resolutions. The access to these documents is free of charge. Similarly, the Library has almost all the publications of the European Union documents under a repository scheme.

Digital Collection

India Quarterly: 1945 to 2008
The flagship publication of the Council is ‘India Quarterly’ (A Journal of International Affairs). It was launched in 1945 and responsibility of the publication has now been given to M/s SAGE Publications.

Rare Books: There are about 350+ rare books available in digital format, including some titles such as – Indo Aryans (1881); Social Life of the Chinese (1865); Indian Nationalism (1910), TREATIES FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF PEACE (1920) etc.
